The AWGIE Awards recognise and reward the outstanding achievements of Australian screen and stage writers and their contribution to Australia’s cultural landscape. These prestigious awards are the only industry awards given by writers to writers judged exclusively on the basis of the writer’s vision, the script.

The 53rd Annual AWGIE Awards will be broadcast on Tuesday 8 December 2020 from 8pm (AEDT) / 7.30pm (ACDT) / 5pm (AWST) on YouTube, meaning you and your family, friends and colleagues will be able to tune in from the comfort of home for free. Make sure you subscribe to our YouTube channel to receive the latest updates.

While we won’t be able to meet in person, we encourage everyone to dress in your AWGIE best and share your look with us on social media on the night using #2020AWGIES. Like most AWGIE Awards, the dress code is up to you, so feel free to put on your very favourite 2020 pyjamas or the fancy outfit you’ve been holding on to all year, grab a drink and some good food, and settle into the comfort of your lounge for an end of year AWGIE celebration!

The night will be led by our host – actor, writer and comedian Bjorn Stewart, and will include special guest appearances from some of the best in the business

The AWGIE Awards are made possible with support from our sponsors:
