The Australian Writers’ Guild is thrilled to announce that the winner of Think Inside the Box, our inaugural TV drama screenwriting competition, is Christian White with his series pilot, One Year Later.
One Year Later is based around a man who spends a decade searching for his kidnapped daughter, and another two decades searching for her killer. Each episode in the series takes place one year after the previous one, allowing the series to span over thirty years.
Christian receives a number of prizes including a meeting with the development team of internationally renowned Australian production house, Matchbox Pictures, 3 free hours with the AWG’s contract negotiation service Deal Runners, screenwriting software Final Draft 8 and boxed DVD sets of a number of critically acclaimed TV series and films. Christian will also be invited to join the AWG’s Pathways Program.
The AWG was delighted with the response to the competition. Judges selected a shortlist of nine unique and exciting concepts from which the winner and 4 finalists were chosen. The finalists will also meet the development team at Matchbox Pictures.
All shortlisted applicants will be invited to join the AWG’s Pathways Program, an initiative that provides networking opportunities for writers and the chance to showcase their ideas to industry professionals thereby giving those industry professionals access to quality scripts. Exclusive networking events for the Think Inside the Box shortlisted and long listed writers are scheduled for the early 2014.
A big congratulations to Christian and the shortlisted writers below for a tremendous achievement.
