If the answer is a bloodcurdling YES then your dark heart is going to love AWG’s most diabolical script competition ever. More monstrous than the Monte Miller, less huggy and kissy than the Rom Com script comp, the AWG Terror Australis Horror Comp is looking for the best unproduced horror script in Australia and it’s open to all financial AWG Members in a battle royale to the death!
We’re looking for honest horror scripts – supernatural or non-supernatural - (ghost stories, creature features, zombie and vampire scripts, splatter and slasher films etc) but we also welcome genre hybrids - crime and horror, sci-fi and horror, action and horror, horror and Western - in fact horror and ANYTHING as long as its primary intent and goal is to induce feelings of fear, dread, terror or extreme unease – in short, to disturb or scare the pants off the audience.
As HP Lovecraft, one of the undisputed masters of horror literature, stated: “We must judge a weird tale not by the author’s intent or the mere mechanics of the plot but by the emotional level which it attains.” But beware only completed feature-length screenplays will be considered. Everything else shall be thrown down the well and sealed over… FOREVER!
