NEW Television Development Program - Tele-Navigator

16 June, 2010

National television executives are coming to Perth this month to launch the 2010 Tele-Navigator Development Program, which kicks off with a series of events and networking opportunities starting next week.

Tele-Navigator is a three phase program replacing the former T-Vis program. Tele-Navigator begins with a series of market events, followed by an intensive development period for a select number of projects and ultimately a development grant that will hopefully see two successful projects through to commissioning.

Presented by ScreenWest in association with the Australian Writers Guild (AWG), the first phase of the six month Tele-Navigator program will see network representatives travel to WA over a three-week period to discuss the state of the Australian television drama industry, what they are looking to commission in the upcoming year, and what they look for in a pitch presentation.

Producers and writers will have the opportunity to meet directly with executives from Network Ten, SBS, ABC1 and ABC3.Â

Identifying projects and ideas that are suitable for the current drama market place is the aim of this introductory phase of the Tele-Navigator program. The AWG will run an open one-day workshop with producer Amanda Higgs on the TV market and how to get your projects commissioned! Workshop participants will be eligible for a small ScreenWest grant to develop projects such as telemovies, adult and children TV series, mini series or sitcoms.
