Screen NSW launches first Amplifier initiative

14 July, 2016

Screen NSW’s new bespoke script development program for feature films has opened applications for its first initiative, Amplifier: Adaptation. The Amplifier program is designed to provide direct pathways to the end market, including engagement with distributors and exhibitors, and Screen NSW will work with the teams for the entire life of the selected projects. Amplifier, which is also being supported by Screen Australia, replaces the long-standing Screen NSW Aurora program.Screen NSW CEO Courtney Gibson says they are taking a broad definition of the first theme for the program, Adaptation: “We are looking for film projects from a whole range of source material - from books to plays, from memoirs to musicals. Australian producers have a strong track record in this area with films such as The Dressmaker, The Sapphires, Red Dog, Last Cab to Darwin and Holding The Man, all achieving domestic box office success and international sales and we have high hopes for the soon to be released Ali’s Wedding and Jasper Jones.”Screen NSW will fund up to four teams for Amplifier: Adaptation and will accept submissions for projects at various stages of development. Applications will close on 2 September 2016. Guidelines and more information available HERE.
