POSITION VACANT: Member Services and Communications Manager

The Australian Writers’ Guild (AWG) is the professional association representing writers for stage, screen, radio and online and has protected and promoted their creative and professional interests for more than 50 years.

The AWG is seeking a motivated and committed full-time Member Services and Communications Manager to join its team. The successful applicant will report to the Group CEO, and will be responsible for ensuring high-quality support services and communications for our members. 

 Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the Guild provides high-quality, timely and efficient support and communication services to its members 
  • Proactively managing membership data as well as engaging members directly in order to deliver best practice member services  
  • Maintaining the growth and retention of AWG membership 
  • Overseeing all member communications, including the AWG website, to increase member knowledge, satisfaction and retention
  • Developing and rolling out membership marketing material, for members and non-members
  • Supporting the Guild’s extensive network of volunteer committees
  • Overseeing and managing third-party funding and sponsorship relationships and processes, and
  • Overseeing development and delivery of member services and benefits, including but not limited to member enquiries, membership renewals, membership marketing and communications, competitions, script services and sponsorships.
  • Supporting the CEO in managing day-to-day operations and workflows to support the work of the membership team and the Guild more generally.

The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role. They will possess excellent communication and marketing skills, will be highly organised and able to manage multiple projects and stakeholders. They will embody the Guild’s member focus and thrive in a small team environment. We are looking for someone who understands and cares about the the big picture and is also highly motivated by getting the processes and details right to best support our wide range of members. We want someone who gets excited by dealing with people and with data. 

Above all, the successful candidate will be a self-starter and a team player who demonstrates a positive attitude, and is motivated by the challenges of a busy and dynamic role. A Bachelor-level degree in communications, business or another related discipline is desirable, but candidates with equivalent other qualifications and/or experience will also be considered.

A fair and equitable salary will be offered for the position and will be dependent upon the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
