Congratulations to Pathways writer C.S. McMullen who has been awarded the 2016 Sir Peter Ustinov Television Scriptwriting Award by the International Emmys Foundation for her script Living Metal.Living Metal was shortlisted for three AWG competitions in 2015 – the 2015 Monte Miller Award, What Happens Next? and Think Inside the Box, and was selected for the 2015 Scriptapalooza Screenplay Competition and the 2015 BIFF/ScreenCraft Screenwriters’ Residency Program quarter finals. Catherine is currently shortlisted for the 2016 PAGE International Screenwriting Awards with her script, Driven.“I am so thrilled to have been chosen by the International Emmys Foundation as the recipient of the 2016 Sir Peter Ustinov Television Scriptwriting Award for my script Living Metal," said Catherine."Some of the first recognition that my script received was as a finalist in AWG competitions, and it was this feedback that inspired me to continue to work on and send out my work. I am looking forward to travelling to New York for the awards immensely, and I’m sure it will be an experience I will never forget,” she said.Each year, The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation administers the Sir Peter Ustinov Television Scriptwriting Award. The competition is designed to recognise and encourage non-American writers under the age of 30 and offer them opportunities that might lead to successful careers in television scriptwriting.The award winner receives $2,500, a trip to New York City, and an invitation to the International Emmy® Awards Gala in November.The Australian Writers’ Guild’s Pathways Program is a unique development initiative that links talent with opportunity and helps to forge relationships between emerging and experiences writers and other industry professionals.The Australian Writers’ Guild acknowledges and pays respect to the past, present and future traditional custodians and Elders of this nation and the continuation of cultural, spiritual and educational practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
