The 'entertainment industry’s' mischievous accusations of bias on the part of the advisory committee set up to advise the government's review of Australian copyright law are a nonsense (Andrew Colley, 23/10).
The coalition of coalitions driving this campaign is essentially the same six Hollywood media conglomerates hiding behind different acronym cloaks – Warner Bros, Sony, Paramount, Fox, Universal, and Disney.Â
Some of the richest, most powerful voices in the world with unparalleled access to public opinion and lobbying budgets are crying "poor me".
They claim consultation is not enough because they would not have any "control" over the committee.
They have the right to be heard but copyright at its heart is about ensuring all Australians benefit from Australian innovation by creating a financial incentive for our original creations. Let’s not let the sea of Hollywood acronyms drown out those creative voices.
