The Australian Writers' Guild and the 2011 BigPond Adelaide Film Festival are calling for entries to the fifth biennial INSITE Competition for Unproduced Feature Screenplays.

INSITE is one of the premier screenwriting competitions in Australia. Since its inception in 2003 at the inaugural Adelaide Film Festival, INSITE has become a spotlight for the Australian film industry, illuminating undiscovered, original and adapted stories that are yet to be produced.

The winner of the inaugural INSITE competition Cut Snake, written by Blake Ayshford, was selected for this year’s Berlinale Co-Production Market. The film is currently in development, to be produced by Michael McMahon with Tony Ayres attached as director.

The 2011 winning screenplay will receive a rehearsed public reading during the 2011 BigPond Adelaide Film Festival, which takes place from 24 February to 6 March. The winning writer will receive travel to Adelaide to participate in rehearsals as well as a cash prize of $2,500.

The public reading will be directed by a leading Australian director and cast with professional actors. Directors in previous years have included Tony Ayres (Home Song Stories), Kriv Stenders (Lucky Country) and Samantha Lang (L’idole) with actors Aden Young, Rhys Muldoon, Ernie Dingo and Leanna Walsman taking part.

Entry to INSITE 2011 is open to all financial members of the AWG and closes 5.00pm Friday 27 August 2010.
