The AWG congratulates the screenwriters recognised in this week’s AACTAs: Reg Cribb and Jeremy Sims, who received the AACTA Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for LAST CAB TO DARWIN and Robert Connolly and Steve Worland who got the AACTA Award for Best Original Screenplay for PAPER PLANES.The AACTA Award for Best Film will be awarded next week. The five films competing are: The Dressmaker; Last Cab To Darwin; Mad Max: Fury Road; Paper Planes and Holding The Man.A total of 10 television Awards will also be announced at next week’s Ceremony, including the AACTA Award for Best Television Drama Series, which sees the ABC’s Glitch and Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries Series 3 competing with the Nine Network’s Love Child Series 2 and past nominee Wentworth Series 3 (FOXTEL - SoHo).The Australian Writers’ Guild acknowledges and pays respect to the past, present and future traditional custodians and Elders of this nation and the continuation of cultural, spiritual and educational practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
