Call for AWG screenwriters to participate in RMIT research project

RMIT is seeking five male and five female emerging screenwriters, and five male and five female early-career screenwriters to participate in an interview-based research project, ‘Training Australian Screenwriters: craft traditions, industrial realities and development opportunities’.The research‘Training Australian Screenwriters: craft traditions, industrial realities and development opportunities’ aims to identify the educational, training and creative development needs of Australian screenwriters. The results will be used to develop curriculum in RMIT’s professional writing programs, and will be referred to in journal publications and conference papers.Participant detailsFor the purposes of the research:An ‘emerging screenwriter’ is someone who has:
  • completed industry-based courses
  • won screenwriting prizes
  • received grants and/or
  • a screenwriting project at a significant stage of development.
An ‘early-career screenwriter’ is someone who has:
  • a minimum of 45 minutes* of television produced in the last two years and/or
  • a minimum of 50 minutes* of film produced in the last two years.
*This work may be scriptwriting or script editing, story or script producing.How to participateApplicants will be initially asked to provide contact details together with a résumé. People selected for interview will then be contacted individually. Interviews will be about 40 minutes duration and will be conducted by telephone.
