Almost two months after the Federal Arts Minister George Brandis announced that he would redirect $104.7 million from the Australia Council’s budget to a new National Program for Excellence in the Arts (NPEA), the draft funding guidelines [1] have been released.
The Guidelines are open for comment until July 31– two days after the ministry can start committing funding from the new spending program.
The deadline comes two weeks after submissions are due to the Senate Inquiry into the Impact of the 2014 and 2015 Commonwealth Budget decisions on the Arts, established by the Greens and Labor last month. Deadline for submissions to the Senate Inquiry is tomorrow, July 17.
The Guild is making a submission to the Inquiry and will be commenting on the Guidelines. We encourage members to make their own submissions as well as comment on the NPEA guidelines. A Submission toolkit for the Senate Inquiry is available here [2] and the information on how to comment on the draft Guidelines can be found here[3] .
