The Australian Writers’ Guild has announced the launch of Pathways Showcase, a new state-of-the-art web-portal offering producers and industry professionals exclusive access to Australia’s hottest new scripts and premier screenwriters.Announced yesterday at SPA’s Screen Forever conference, the portal provides a permanent platform through which producers seeking new content and screenwriters with outstanding, peer-reviewed projects can easily connect, facilitating opportunities for Australian and International productions.
‘Every year AWG identifies and shortlists dozens of first-rate, exciting and diverse projects from right around the country, with the benefit of these scripts being reviewed by some of the most experienced screenwriters in Australia,’ said AWG Group CEO Jacqueline Elaine.‘Producers are hungry for content but can’t necessarily read through thousands of scripts a year, so Pathways bridges the gap between this wealth of talent and the industry. It’s the go-to for any producer looking for world-class content.’
Through an easy to navigate web-portal, Pathways gives industry professionals direct access to:
PRIME which is comprised of Australia's most accomplished, successful screenwriters, including Justin Monjo, Shelley Birse and Andrew Knight, and their projects, and
SHOWCASE which features a curated, peer-reviewed and continuously updated collection of fresh, exciting new material from both established, credited screenwriters as well as newly discovered emerging screenwriters. Showcase projects are eligible for Scripted Ink. co-investment funding.
The portal is the latest evolution of the Guild’s earlier Pathways Program, which began in 2010 and showcased AWG competition-winning scripts through the Guild’s website.
‘Pathways has always been about connecting talent within the industry, identifying screenwriters and scripts with promise and connecting them with opportunities,’ said AWG’s Pathways Manager Susie Hamilton.‘The new web-portal goes beyond this to create a permanent resource for the industry. It’s a tool to connect the brightest ideas with the brightest minds in the business, and a way for industry professionals to find the projects they’re looking for, with the intention of seeing producers and screenwriters taking projects to the next level and creating high-quality Australian and International productions,’ she concluded.
Industry professionals are invited to register now for direct access to quality Australian content. To register visit awgpathways.com.au
