The AWG NSW Committee is proud to present our first hybrid event for 2020, where award-winning writer John Collee will share his secrets to a live and virtual audience. The event will include the opportunity to ask John questions about his work and learn about the craft from an industry powerhouse.

John’s talent spans all genres, and his feature films include action thriller Hotel Mumbai, Oscar-nominated action epic Master and Commander, Oscar-nominated foreign language love story Tanna, and the Oscar-winning family musical Happy Feet.

His current projects include Dev Patel's directorial debut Monkey Man, Philip Noyce’s WW2 story Tobruk, and an 8-part adaptation of the wildly successful coming-of-age novel Boy Swallows Universe.

In-person space is limited, so be quick to secure your spot. If you are not Sydney-based or if you miss out on a ticket, we invite you to join us online from the comfort of your home, where you will have full access to the event, including submitting questions for John.

The AWG is committed to supporting our industry and practitioners in this unprecedented time, and we are excited to offer panels that are accessible online and in person. This event is offered for free to all attendees as a thank you from the AWG and Write Night committee for your support throughout the year and to celebrate more hybrid events as we head into 2021.

WHEN: Thursday 5 November 2020, 7pm (AEDT) / 6.30 (ACDT) / 4pm (AWST). Those attending in person are encouraged to arrive from 6.30pm. 

WHERE: Online via Zoom and in person at Knox Street Bar, corner of Knox and Shepherd Street, Chippendale

RSVP: Essential for all attendees, including online. RSVP via the link above. 

• To book an in-person ticket, select the ticket type WRITE NIGHT - KNOX STREET TICKET from the drop-down menu. 
• To book a digital ticket, select the ticket type WRITE NIGHT - DIGITAL TICKET from the drop-down menu. Digital tickets are unlimited, so if you miss out on an in-person ticket, you will be able to watch online. 

Digital ticket attendees will receive a link to the panel one hour before the start time.

Knox St Bar things to know:

• Doors: Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the event start time.
• Attendee Limits: Attendee Limits are strict; you must purchase a ticket prior to arrival, no walk-ins will be accepted.
• Waitlist: A waitlist may be created pending demand. If you cannot attend, please let us know so that we can offer your space to another attendee.
• COVID Safe Requirements: Knox St Bar is a COVID Safe venue. All attendees must comply with the COVID Safe requirements of the venue.

Digital Ticket things to know:

• Device: Our online webinar is optimised for desktop, laptop or tablet (mobile phones can sometimes have audio issues but if you've used yours successfully before, go ahead).
• Where: You will be emailed a link to the live webinar one hour prior to the event. Please check if you have received the link at least half an hour before the event starts so that we have time to ensure you get access. If you have not received your link, email media@awg.com.au. 
• Platform: We use Zoom as our video conferencing tool, it would be useful to have the app downloaded, so you get the option of "gallery view".
