This April we’re creating the opportunity for associate members to have a series of speed dating style meetings with their more experienced writers in ‘the biz’.
What to know how to get an agent? Now you can ask.
Want to pitch your idea to fresh ears? You can do that too.
Need career advice? We’re here.
The way it works is that you get ten minutes with each mentor (three meetings in all) and you can talk about any aspect of your writing life and/or career strategies. The bell will then ring and then it’s off to the next meeting. We’ll work out the order and whom you will meet so you can make the most out of your time. The mentors include: Kelly Lefever Marcia Gardner Elise McCredie Karin Altmann Michael Harvey Luke Preston Chelsea Cassio John Reeves Michael Brindley Chris Anastassiades Chris Corbett and Peter Mattessi. While most of the meetings are one-on-one sessions there will also be two round tables each run by a Vic Committee member where you can discuss anything in small groups share experience with your colleagues and hopefully find new collaborators.Places are strictly limited for AWG members only and booking is essential.First come first served. When: Wednesday 11 April 2018. 6.45pm for a 7pm start.Where: The Dan O’Connell Hotel 225 Canning Street Carlton. Cost: $10The Australian Writers’ Guild acknowledges and pays respect to the past, present and future traditional custodians and Elders of this nation and the continuation of cultural, spiritual and educational practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
