VIC: The Writing Process

When
14 August, 2019 7:00 PM - 14 August, 2019 9:00 PM

Event is not bookable.

It’s half way through the film festival, it’s wet and cold outside, but why not pull on a coat, grab your brolly and join us for a conversation about the process of screenwriting.

Not that there is any one process, of course. Each writer makes their own. But it’s sometimes useful to compare notes and see what works for your fellow writers.

We’ll talk about how TV shows are plotted and drafted, how feature films are written and about the process of writing in general.

Join in the conversation with Chris Corbett, Karin Altmann and Luke Preston as they share their experiences in Film and TV development and answer your questions.

When: Wednesday 14 August at 7pm.

Where: Upstairs at the Golden Gate Hotel, 238 Clarendon Street, South Melbourne.

Karin Altmann has worked as a writer, a director and as a ‘midwife’ to the careers and work of writers for more than 30 years.  She runs scriptWorks, a company that consults on documentary, television drama and feature film projects with writers, directors, producers and funding agencies.

Luke Preston is the writer of the novels Dark City Blue and Out of Exile and the screenwriter of the upcoming feature film The Chain Breakers starring Jackie Weaver, James Cromwell and Jack Thompson.

Chris Corbett has written over fifty hours of TV. He has also taught screenwriting at RMIT, VCA, AFTRS and Open Channel .
