AWGIES like you've never seen them before...

When: Thursday 30 August 2018 6.30pm sharp for a 7pm to 9pm ceremony

Where: City Recital Hall,  2 Angel Place Sydney

Celebrating the very best in Australian stage and screen writing the AWGIE Awards recognise and reward the outstanding achievements of Australian storytellers and their contribution to Australia’s cultural landscape. These prestigious awards are the only industry awards given by writers to writers judged exclusively on the basis of the writer’s own vision the script. With 2018 marking a shorter and sharper theatre-style evening this year’s Awards are AWGIES like you've never seen them before.

Some important notes:

We're shorter! For those of you who've been around the AWGIE block a few times you may remember the evening as a (fabulously) long night of speeches. 2018 marks the start of a new era of AWGIES. A shorter era of AWGIES. AWGIES like you've only dreamed of. That's right kicking off at 6.30pm with drinks the official ceremony will start at 7pm sharp in the gorgeous City Recital Hall and be wrapped by 9pm! Afterwards join us for a cocktail reception.

We're changing nights! We're moving out of the Friday Night Graveyard slot to Thursday. So you get to have your AWGIES fix and keep your Friday night free too!

We're theatre-style! No more worrying about fitting your friends and colleagues around one table fighting your way across the room awkwardly for a five minute chat in-between awards or wondering whether you'll be sat around a table of people you don't know. In the true spirit of storytellers we're taking the night back to the theatre and putting the writers on centre stage. During the awards seating will not be allocated however there will be plenty of time during the two-hour cocktail reception to catch up with friends and colleagues.

You'll still be fed! Just because the night is shorter and sharper doesn't mean you won't be treated to a night of good food and wine. Drinks and canapés will be served before the ceremony and afterwards the foyer will be decked out with a feast. Yum cha anyone? Some more important notes:
