The Australian Writers' Guild (SA) presents Shane Brennan In Conversation with Travis Akbar

From showrunning one of the most successful franchises on network television to leading new opportunities for performance writers in Australia, AWG President Shane Brennan is at the forefront of the industry.

Join him for one night only in conversation with AWG member and screenwriter Travis Akbar to explore the state of screenwriting in Australia and internationally as well as pathways available to creatives for transitioning to the US market. 

This is an Australian Writers' Guild event, however, everyone involved in the screen industry in South Australia is invited and welcome. Bookings are essential, see link above.

Shane Brennan

Shane Brennan is an Australian writer and producer who has become one of the most successful television drama producers in the world. In 2007 he became the first Australian writer to become the showrunner of a US network television drama series when he took over as Executive Producer on the CBS series NCIS, which went on to become the number one scripted drama on network television and is now entering its fifteenth season. While running NCIS, Brennan created the hit spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles, which became the number two scripted drama on network television. Both NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles are seen in more than 200 countries and have become two of CBS Studios most successful shows in the last decade.

Travis Akbar

Travis Akbar is from the Wongutha peoples of Western Australia and was raised on Wirangu country in South Australia. He has been a member of AFTRS Talent Camps. In 2022 he was a finalist in the AACTA Regional Landscapes competition, was accepted into the prestigious Australians in Film Untapped Initiative and was named the 2022 Centralized Fellow. Along with Josh Trevorrow and Thibul Nettle, Travis is part of the first all-First Nations team to be accepted into South Australia Film Corporation's competitive 2022 Film Lab 2 program.
