Ever encountered a real life personality or event that would make a good screen story? Ever come across a fascinating historical incident that would make a compelling drama or documentary?

Then Get Real is a Masterclass for you!

Award-winning scriptwriter Katherine Thomson will be sharing her expertise on stage film and TV writing at an AWG masterclass in South Australia 3-4 September.

The weekend event presented with the support of South Australian Film Corporation is aimed at writers looking to develop screen stories based on real events or people. Participants may or may not have a story or treatment already in mind.Katherine Thomson who has penned Women He’s Undressed and House of Hancock among others will lead participants through case studies on how to identify and craft a screen story from real life facts.Those with a story they would like workshopped will need to submit a one-page synopsis by August 19 and preference will be given to South Australian stories. Please email your synopsis to admin@awg.com.auThe masterclass in the Migration Museum on Kintore Ave in Adelaide will include a screen industry panel discussion on the second day. Speakers will include Vicki Sugars (SAFC) Mandy Paul (HistorySA) Matthew Bate & Matthew Cormack (Sam Klemke’s Time Machine 52 Tuesdays) with more panelists to be announced later.Early Bird tickets for AWG members are available for $20 till 1 July after which tickets will be $30 for members. Flat rate $40 for non-members. Places are strictly limited. Morning and afternoon teas will be provided on both days.
