TOPIC - REAL LIFE STORIES ON SCREEN: POTENTIAL LEGAL ISSUESTrue stories are hot screen properties right now with recent successes including Lion Ali’s Wedding and Holding the Man. Truth can often be stranger than fiction so films based on real life offer rich source material and when done well their humanity and familiarity connect with audiences worldwide. However for the very same reasons that they appeal to audiences they also present a legal quagmire as the laws in this area are complex and the consequences potentially disastrous for all concerned. Using some recent examples from high profile movies come and hear more about the law in this area and how writers and producers can better protect themselves from the long arm of the law.
